Hi, My name is Heather and I am the Owner and founder of Your PawPal. After completing my college courses in 2001 and working as an RVT in the professional Veterinary field I still felt something was missing after 8 years. Although I enjoyed the fast, high paced and always changing work of a big hospital that dealt with all animals great and small, I was spending more time away from my family than I wanted. I realized in my time in practice that it was the clients and their humans that I most enjoyed. The interaction, face time and watching a pup grow into a mature adult brought a smile to my face. When I chose to leave my job I knew I had not left the Veterinary world all together. I was encouraged by friends and family to pursue my dreams and make Your PawPal a reality. I wanted to create a business that helped the clients when they left the hospital so they had a greater sense of security. I am passionate about fulfilling my job duties in each unique situation whether it be postoperative and high needs or a very energetic playful pup. I am grateful to all who inspired and encouraged me to live out this dream.... animal and human alike.
Your PawPal's Mission for Client Care
After numerous years in the professional world I can tell you first hand that most kennel/boarding situations are very similar. Your animal is kept in a personal kennel and 2 times a day is taken out for a 5 minute walk. Just enough time to potty and it is back into the kennel and onto the next dog. It really is incredibly sad for the animal and the owner. The owner has intrusted and paid the facility to care as they would for their pet and family member but more often than not that is not the case. I will say that this is not a flagrant act but one of sheer animal volume vs employee staffing. Even with 2 Kennel people which is very typical, one is cleaning, while one is walking and 1 walker to say 40 dogs (and up to 60 or more during holidays) and it just boils down to not enough personal attention for your animals.
For my post surgical and high needs clients, I vow to bring a sense of comfort,communication and integrity from my medical background. I strive to communicate effectively between the doctor and owner and be there for transport, follow up's and any other appointments so that you the owner can focus on work and sustaining the livelihood it takes to care for a special needs companion.
My Mission for Your PawPal is that we give you and your animals the one on one attention you want and they deserve. Our walks are never shorter than 30 minutes unless requested by owners and your animal will never be walked with another dog unless it is another family member pet. We book at a low volume for customer quality and satisfaction rather than high volume and for profit. I want our clients to know from the start that they set the times and standards and we follow and hope to exceed them. If we give you an estimate for 2 hours of play and the first day notice that your pups are not engaging in 2 hours, you will recieve a new, lower estimate. I want people to understand that your pet does not have to endure sitting in a kennel or cage because it is a special needs patient. We are trained and capable of giving various medications. We also offer post surgical care for the highest of needs patients including rehabilitation therapy.
